Our Story
In addition, I found the town very receptive to an independent shop that offered a bijou selection of well-reviewed books, as well as one offering an ordering service*. It has been a great pleasure to maintain such an ever changing collection. We have sought to emphasise international writing, titles that combine superb prose with stunning design, and some lesser known publishers' lists with clear personalities. Many of our best sellers (and personal favourites) are now also available on this site.
Essentially, each aspect - local art, books, crafts - proved too rich and fascinating a seam to ever let go, and so it is that Skylark has remained happily eclectic. I am pleased to now offer the Skylark shopping experience to wider audience through this website. Thank you for visiting!
